Who we are

The authors of this website are Heidi and David Nunn. You can find out more about us on our Further information page. If you wish to contact us, you can do so via the Contact page.

The website was designed by David, who runs Medical Web Systems as a sole trader.

We have made the resource entirely free for anyone to use. We do not generate any income from it, and we do not advertise or sell any products on the website.

Why do we collect information from you?
  • To keep a record of your progress through the self-test section of the website
  • To offer you certificates of completion for the individual self-tests
  • To analyse how the site is used (by location and user profession)
  • To demonstrate how widely the site is used, viewable on a map here - no personal details are displayed
  • To analyse how difficult each question is, based on the proportion of users who get each question right on the first attempt
  • To email you with important or significant updates to the course
What information do we collect?

In order for you to benefit from this resource, we collect the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your chosen login password
  • Your geographical location
  • Your profession
  • Your most recent answer for each question (correct or incorrect)
  • Whether your first answer for each question was correct or incorrect
  • Your available CPD certificates, and whether you have viewed the certificates
  • Your contact preferences
How do we collect this information?
  • When you register to use the self-tests, or to view the pathology image gallery, you provide us with:
    1. Your name
    2. Your email address
    3. Your chosen login password
    4. Your geographical location
    5. Your profession
    6. Your contact preferences
  • Other items relating to your test answers and available certificates are automatically generated as you progress through the tests
How do we store your information?
  • All data is stored in a MySQL database protected by a complex password, hosted by one.com
  • Your password is stored in an encrypted format. It is not possible for us to view or access your password, so if you forget it you will need to reset it via the Reset password page
What is the legal basis for collecting this information?
  • Legitimate interest
    • It is necessary for us to use the data that we store in order for you to benefit from the course. The processing of this data does not infringe on your interests, rights or freedoms.
  • Consent
    • You provide us with consent to contact you via email about updates to the website
How do we keep the information accurate and up-to-date?
  • You can update your personal information and contact preferences immediately and at any time by logging in and visiting the User details page
How can your details be erased from our records?
  • We will remove your personal information (name, email address, password) if you request us to. Please email us, or use our Contact page. Please note that once these details have been removed, it will be impossible to retrieve any of your information subsequently.
